Case Study: Brentford FC
Argon Utility Solutions finally started work on the new medium pressure gas main for the new Brentford Football Club and surrounding retail and housing development. After being appointed as the projects gas infrastructure provider back in 2014 the Argon have teamed up with Willmott Dixon the primary contractor and the stadium build specialist Buckingham Group Contracting.
Phase one of the installation saw Argon install 180 meters of 180mm approach gas main to site which was challenging to say the least. Argon had to work cohesively with the local authorities of both London Boroughs of Hounslow and TFL. The first major challenge was to cross the 100 year old Kew Bridges with the use of an old abandoned steal main with an entry and exit pit at either end.
After successfully crossing Kew Bridge the team were tasked with finding the gas which was located 4 meters below ground level. All works were halted when the highly trained main and service layer identified that there was a leak on the MP Syphon. National Grid were called out to carry out the repair on their MP Syphon before the final connection was carried out.
